Stereo prism binocular
These prismatic binoculars have a leather-covered body with loops for a carrying strap (now missing). The eyepieces (one missing) are made of bakelite and focus independently. The maker's name appears on the body, as does the government broad arrow mark and the magnification of the binoculars (6), as well as a testing mark from Kew Observatory.
The binoculars originally came from HMS 'Invincible' (1907), which was sunk at the battle of Jutland in 1916. They were subsequently recovered by a Norwegian fishing vessel.
