Pair of shoes from the wreck of the 'Royal George'
A pair of shoes retrieved from the wreck site of the ship of the line 'Royal George', which sank in Spithead in 1782. There are fragments of the shoe in a bag. The soles of the shoes have metal nails hammered into the heel. Stitching can be seen in the sole base. The rest of the shoe has severely degraded.
