Brass panel from 'Royal George' wreck
A brass panel, possibly part of a stove. It was retrieved from the wreck site of the ship of the line 'Royal George', which sank at Spithead in 1782. It is decorated with a pierced design of a coat of arms, guns etc and is made of gilt copper alloy. Mottoes: 'Honi soit qui mal y pense'. 'Dieu et mon droit'. One half of the panel is severely corroded.
