Dummy book made from H.M.S. 'Eurydice'
Block of wood carved to resemble a book. On the front is a carving of standards and a ship in a gale within an oval ropework border with anchors and tritons in the corners. On the back, a hulk on a calm sea bordered by laurel leaves, doves and anchors. On the spine: 'Eurydice'. On the back, a brass plaque: 'HMS Eurydice, foundered off the Isle of Wight, March 24th 1878. Recovered and brought into harbour, Septr 1st 1878.'
