Fragment of wood

Round wooden box containing a fragment of wood. Label on wood: 'Spanish ship blown up by General Elliot, Siege of Gibraltar 1780'. A paper label inside the lid reads: 'This Piece of cedar was taken from the remains of HM ship Gibraltar built by the Spaniards and launched at the Havanna in the year 1751 by the name of the Phoenix captured by Sir George Rodney in the year 1780 when commanded by Adml Langara. The Admiral's flag was presented to his late Majesty George the Third by his son Prince William Henry then a midshipman in the Fleet. This ship was taken to pieces in Pembroke Dock in 1836.'
