An inscribed metal plaque reads: 'THE CLIPPER SHIP "GLORY OF THE SEAS" WITH A PORTION OF HER TIMBER-FRAME LAUNCHED AT EAST BOSTON MASS. 1869 ENDED HER DAYS BY FIRE AS A SUPPLY-SHIP IN 1927. TONNAGE 2102.'
