Box made from H.M.S. 'Resolute'
Box made from the timber of HMS 'Resolute'. It has green baize on the base and a hinged lid. A brass plaque on lid is inscribed: 'MADE AND PRESENTED TO ME BY MR EDWARD PRAILL SENR FROM THE TIMBERS OF HMS RESOLUTE OF THE SIR JOHN FRANKLIN SEARCH EXPEDITION OF 1852. T.J.B.' It contains a short history of the fate of 'Resolute' dated 1880 and a trade card from Morant Boyd and Blandford decorated with figures of Polar explorers, inviting visitors to see the writing table made of the wood of the vessel for presentation to the US President.
