Timber piece
A piece of worm-eaten timber with a hand-written label attached: 'Piece of timber taken from a ship's bottom destroyed by the Worm the copper having fallen off from Tahiti 1842. Presented by Capt. A: S: Hamond R.N.' The item belonged to Commander Andrew Snape Hamond (1811-1874) who crossed the Pacific whilst in command of HMS 'Salamander'.
