Piece of wood from H.M.S. 'Victory'
A thin piece of oak from the ship of the line H.M.S. 'Victory'.. On label: 'Piece of HMS Victory given to William Huggins Marine Painter to King William IV by Sir Ralph Blackwood then Captain of HMS Euryalus - he was with Lord Nelson when he gave his celebrated signal at the Battle of Trafalgar.' There seems to be some confusion here with Vice-Admiral Sir Henry Blackwood (1770-1832) Captain of the frigate 'Euryalus' at Trafalgar.
