Seaman in Naval Brigade landing rig
Bronze statuette, cast by the lost-wax method, of a British Naval Brigade figure in landing rig. His equipment includes a Martini-Henry rifle with cutlass bayonet, sennit hat, bedding roll, gaiters, haversack, ammunition pouch and water bottle.
Previous notes state that the cutlass bayonet and its scabbard are replacements. The foundry inscription 'Ce des Br Bruxelles' in cursive script is cast into the upper surface of the base, on the rim. While the figure is otherwise unsigned another example, with a slightly variant matching pair, has been recorded, both being signed 'J. E. Hodgson 1883'.
