1st seal of the town of Dunwich, circa 1199. A contemporary copy or forgery of the first seal of the town of Dunwich. Twelfth-century sailing vessel with fore and aft fighting stages seen in their original form as temporary small structures set up on posts within the high ends of the hull. Fighting top in its original square form on the forward side of the mast. Inscription: 'SIGILL : BVRGI : DE : DONEWIZ'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
