Bergen, common seal, circa 1275. It depicts a thirteenth-century sailing vessel with beast heads at bow and stern. The earliest illustration of reef points in a Scandinavian vessel. Inscription: 'SIGILLVM COMMVNITATIS : DE CIVITATE BERGENSI'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
