Lubeck, first seal of the town, 1230–49. It depicts a mid-thirteenth-century sailing vessel with beast heads at either end, the quarter rudder is slung on the port side. Inscription: '(SIGI)LLVM BVRGENSIVM DE LV(BEK)E'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
