Seal of the town of Fuenterrabia, circa 1250, showing a Basque whaling scene. The earliest representation of a whale-boat on a seal (circa 1250). A buoy is attached to one of the harpoon lines. Inscription: 'SIGILL...FONTE(R)ARRABIA'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
