Collection of Port Line match booklets
A set of 10 match books to be used on ships from the Port Line shipping company. The match book is white with the Port Line emblem, which consists of the Port Line house flag situated inside a blue lifebelt with the words “PORT LINE” around the top edge. There is a black striking pad on the bottom of the book. Printed on the top of the match book in blue ink are the words “AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND U.S.A. CONTINENT U.K.”. Printed at the bottom of the lip are the words “CLOSE COVER BEFORE STRIKING”. Printed on the bottom edge of the book are the words . Inside the book is 16 matches the top of which is coloured pink. The words “PORT LINE” are inscribed on the stem of the matches. Printed inside are the various contact details for all the shipping destinations. (AAB0387.3: one of the matches is missing). All of the books are slightly dirty.
