Paris, 9th seal of the city, 1577. First three-masted ship in the Paris seals. A conventional representation of a full-rig ship running before a heavy sea. It is of galleon type with the topmasts cut off by the chief of the shield. First of the series of Paris seals to be inscribed with the year of issue. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
