Stephen Payne, seal of office, early 15th century

The seal of office of Stephen Payne, early 15th century. His seal as Lord High Almoner of England under Henry V. It depicts a figure within a niche holding a model ship on wheels, either a nef or an alms box for the table, with the arms of Edward the Confessor and the Royal arms. Inscription: 'SIGILLUM OFFICII ELEMOSINARII REGIS HENRICI QUINTI ANGLIAE'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
