Ipswich, seal of Elias son of Turstin, 12th century

Ipswich, seal of Elias son of Turstin, called a seal of the town, 12th century. It depicts a single-masted ship with mainsail furled, a cross at the top of the mainmast. There are two mariners within the ship. Inscription: 'SIGILL' ELIE FIL' TVRSTINI DE GIPEWICH'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
