Sestertius of Hadrian, 117-138 AD
Cast of a sestertius of Hadrian, 117-138 AD. It depicts a war galley with the artemon set and manned by six oarsmen a side and a helmsman in whose hands is seen the port side quarter rudder. The galley carries acrostolium, vexilum and standard. Reverse inscribed: 'S FELICITATI AVG COS III PP C'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
