Pattern farthing of Charles II
Cast of the reverse of a pattern farthing of Charles II This design said to have been rejected in deference to Louis XIV, who took offence to the claim to domination of the four seas in the inscription - 'QVATVOR . MARIA . VINDICO'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
