Double thaler, Cologne

Cast of a double Ursula thaler, See of Cologne. It depicts a sailing vessel. St Ursula stands between her father King Deonat of Cornwall and the mythical Pope Cyriacus. In the stern is displayed the banner of England, and in the bow the banner of Brittany. Reverse: inscription: 'SANGUI'E . HI . ROSEO . REGNA . VINCERE . SUPE'NA'. The cast is mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
