Two casts obverse and reverse of a medal commemorating the capture of French treasure ships, 1745. Obverse: Naval action; over each ship are the initials of its name, 'ND, D, LE, PF, MA' ('Notre Dame', 'Duke', 'Louis Erasme', 'Prince Frederick', 'Marquis d'Antin'). Exergue: 'IULLI . X . MDCCXLV .' Reverse: Two infant Fames, bearing respectively a trumpet and a laurel branch, hold two medallions with the busts of 'IAC . TALBOT .' and 'IOHA . MORECOCK .' Below, a procession of treasure wagons marked 44, 45. Exergue: 'VENIEBUNT LONDO . OCT . I . ET . II . MDCCXLV .' (They came to London, I and 2 Oct. 1745.) Both casts are mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
