Cast of each side of a counter commemorating the landing of Napoleon Bonaparte at Fréjus, 1799. Obverse: Figure of the Roman god of good fortune. Legend: 'BONUS EVENTUS.' Reverse: The 'Muiron', frigate, under sail, another astern, a ship and lighthouse in the distance. Legend: 'ARRIVEE A FREJUS XVII . VENDRE AN VIII.' Two hundred examples of this counter were struck for good luck for Napoleon's card tables. The two casts are mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
