Medal cast

Cast of the reverse of a medal commemorating the Glorious First of June 1794. Neptune in sea-chariot, pointing with his right hand to sinking vessels and with his left presenting a trident to Britannia, who is seated on a rock with a Union Shield. At her side a lion and cornucopiae from which fall coins. A winged victory hovers over the obelisk, on which she inscribes the names of the flag-officers present: 'HOWE, GRAVES, BRIDPORT, BOWYER, CALDWELL, GARDNER, PASLEY'. Legend: 'NON NOBIS SED PATRIAE' (not to us, but to our country). Exergue: 'MDCCXCIII 1st JUNE'. Unmounted.
