In the stern castle a man blows a trumpet, with a banner behind him. On the field are three small floral or stella devices. The legend: 'SIGILLUM COMMUNE DE HAVERFORDIA’
Reverse ‘This side serves as the Arms of the Borough, represented by a fortified gatehouse with central and side towers. On the central one is a warder blowing a trumpet and on the sider towers are banners flying in contrary directions. At the base is a slain wyvern – a two legged dragon with wings folder, which symbolises the failure of the Welsh to take the castle. Has a lion rampant and and eagle regardant. Legend: 'O LECTOR SALVE COELI PETEANT TIBI VALVE’ [Oh reader, hail. May the gates of heaven be open to thee.']
