Medal cast
Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: Half-length figure of Vernon, right, a baton in his right hand, his cuff up to the elbow; his left hand extended, a fort on the left inscribed: 'FORT CHAGRE'. Naval trophies in front of the figure. Legend: IN MEMORY OF ADMIRAL VERNON'. Reverse: A view of the port; six ships, placed one, two, three. Four are sailing to right, two to left. In the harbour entrance is a large boat with three men and a flag. Legend: 'WHO TOOK PORTO BELLO WITH SIX SHIPS ONLY'. Exergue: 'NOV 22 1739'.
