Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: Full-length figure of Vernon standing on the shore, facing three-quarter left. A baton is held in his left hand, his right extended. A ship sailing to the left, on the left. A fort to the right is inscribed: 'FORT CHAGRE'. Legend: 'THE . BRITISH . GLORY . REVIV.D . BY . ADMIRAL . VERNON'. Reverse: A view of the port. Six ships are placed one, one, two, two. there is a small vessel inside the harbour. Legend: 'HE . TOOK . PORTO . BELLO . WITH . SIX . SHIPS .ONLY'. Exergue: 'NOV. 22. 1739'.
