Medal cast
Commemorative medal commemorating the British attack on Catagena in 1741. Two casts, obverse and reverse. Obverse: Two full-length figures: Vernon (left) facing three-quarter right, wearing a hat; baton in his right hand, the left extended. His legs are crossed. Ogle (right), facing to the left, wearing hat, baton in left hand, the right extended. No line enclosing legend. Legend: 'ADL . VERNON AND SR CHALONER OGLE TOOK CARTHAGENA'. Exergue: '1741'. Reverse: View of semicircular harbour with a forts on either side of the entrance. Two ships, three men in a boat, one ship entering and two others outside. Inscription (over the boat): 'DON BLASS'. No line enclosing legend. Legend: 'SPANISH INSOLENCE CORRECTED BY ENGLISH BRAVERY'.
