Medal cast
Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: Bust of King Charles II in long wig and armour with an order (three-quarter right). Legend: 'CAROLUS . II . D: G . MAGNAE . BRIT . FRA . ET . HIB . REX .' (Charles II, by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland). Reverse: The fleet under sail, Fame with a trumpet and scroll flying above. Inscription on scroll: 'SOLI DEO GLORIA' (Glory to God alone). Inscription on a shell below: 'S. M. is uit Hollant van Scheveling afgevaren naer syn Conincryken Ao. 1660, Juni 2' (His Majesty departed from Holland by Scheveningen to his own kingdom). Legend: 'IN NOMINE MEO EXALTABITUR CORNU EIUS . PSAL . 89' (In my name shall his horn be exalted).
