Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a French jeton, 1628. Obverse: Bust of Cardinal Richelieu. Order of Saint Esprit round neck. Legend '. CVRA . REDDIDIT . IMPERIVM.' Reverse: Port of La Rochelle; boom between mole-heads each defended by a cannon. '*CONTRACTA . PISCES . AEQVORA . SENTIVNT*' (the fishes perceive their waters are constrained). Exergue: '1628'.
