Medal cast
Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: Admiral De Suffren in Roman armour, in a galley bearing the arms of France. He is pulling a branch from a palm tree to which Victory is mooring his boat. Legend: 'SIC APPELLIT'. Exergue: 'GALLO INDIA SERVATA ET AVCTA DUCE PET AND DE SVFFREN S TROPEZAQVI-SEXTIENSI EQV HIEROS CLASS REG PRAEFECTO'. Reverse: Inscription within a laurel wreath: 'CONCIVI OPTVMO DVCI INVICTO MDCCLXXXIV'.
