Medal cast
Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: Plan of Sluys and the surrounding country with the names of places. Reverse: Plan of Ostend. Legend: 'Gold for bronze' (in Greek) 'ITANE . FLANDRIAM . LIBERAS . IBER?' (Is it thus, Spaniards, you deliver Flanders?) The capture of Sluys in 1604 was seen by the United Provinces as compensating for the loss of Ostend later the same year.
