Cast of a commemorative medal. Reverse only. Winged hour glass, wheat and scythes, skull and crossed bones. Inscribed on a draped cloth: 'ter Gedachtenisse van den Manhaftige Capiteyn HENDRICK VOLLENHOVE In den Heere Geruft Anno 1669 den 28 September out synde 39 Jaar'. (In memory of the courageous Captain Henry Vollenhove, called to the Lord in the year 1669, on September 28, in his 39th year.) Below on a cartouche: 'Gedenckt te Sterven' (in remembrance of the dead) Legend: 'GII DIE ALS VRIENDEN MIGEDRAGEN HEBBTER AARDEN, WILT VOOR UW LAATSTE DIENST DIT, MII TER EER AANUARDEN*' (Will all those who, as friends, carried me to my tomb, accept this in return for the last service they rendered to my honour).
