Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: A naval action. Reverse: Inscription: 'ANDEREN TEN VOORBELD De Dankbaarheyd, loont Dappre daden. Dit Goud meld GOUTSCHALCKS mannen moed. Een schelm laat zich door Goud verraden.Een deugsaam Held spild eer zyn bloed. Eer hy zyn Schip ten prooy laat sleepen,.Zoo stryd een Held voor dankbar Volk. Zoo reed den Koopmen veylig Schepen, Zoo dringt men door een solfer wolk, Na't KOLCHOS, daar men t' Goud moet halen Waat GOUTSCHALCK mee zal zege pralen'. (Gratitude rewards deeds of valour: this gold proclaims Goutschalck's heroism. A rascal will betray for gold, whilst the vituous hero would rather shed his blood than surrender his ship. Thus fights a hero for a grateful people, thus he saves the merchant his ship, thus one penetrates through a cloud of sulphur to Colchos, there to fetch the gold for Goutschalck's triumph.)
