Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: Recumbrant effigy on sarcophagus with naval trophies. Naval action behind, Fame above. On a ribbon between two cannon: 'Geb.den 19 van Winterm.1634, Gest. den 18 van Bloeim.1683.' Reverse: Arms of Schepers. Inscribed on a cloth below: 'De oprechtheid, liefde, en trouw, we uit Schepers Schitt'ren zagen Als uit den Inborst van dit alderminn'lyckst vee, Maar, wie verbeeld de moed ervarenthied ter Zee, en and re deugden daer twee waerelden van wagen?', 'TER EEWIGER GEDACHTENISSE van den Manhasten Gestr. Heer ADRIAAN SCHEPERS Kanon. van St MAr. tot Uittr. Ord.Kapit.ter Zee onder d'Admiralit tot Amsterd.' (To the eternal memory of the valient and learned Sir Adrian Schepers, Canon of St Mary at Utrecht, Naval Captain under the Admiralty of Amsterdam.)
