Reverse: Inscription: '1696 Feb 19 Ter gedachtenisse van de Glorieuse Bataille tusschen FRANS WILTSCHUT met het Fregat de Goude Rotz en twee France oorlog Schepen en 7 Kapers op de hoogle van Duynkerken, Heeft zyn Reeder de Heer JOSEPH de la PENIA hem begiftigt met deese goude Medaille hangende aen een goude ketting.' (In remembrance of the action between Francis Wiltschut with the frigate 'The Golden Rock' and two French men-of-war and seven privateers off Dunkirk. Sir Joseph de la Penia, his owner, has presented him with this gold medal suspended from a chain).
