Osella of Francesco Morosini, 1693

Two casts, obverse and reverse, of an osella of Francesco Morosini, 1693. Obverse: Seated St Mark hands a banner to the kneeling Doge. Legend: '*S . M . V . FRAN . MAVROCEN . DVX . VEN.' Exergue: '*ANNO.VI*'. Reverse: The Ducal Cap. Four plain caps and four batons. Legend: 'VIRTVTEM VESTIGAT ET VLTRO AMBIT HONOS.' (Honour follows merit and uncourted woos her). Commemorates the resumption of command of the fleet by the Doge in 1693.
