Medal cast

Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Reverse cracked. Obverse: A bird's-eye view of Island of Rugen. An eagle flies over it carrying a shield on which are the ciphers of the Danish King and the Elector of Brandenberg. Legend: 'VOLITABIT FAMA PER ORBA' (It's story shall fly throughout the world). Reverse: A seated figure representing Denmark points to the inscription: 'RVGIA RECEPTA XII. SEPT. MDCLXXVIII.' Commemorates the capture of the island of Rügen in 1678.
