Two casts, obverse and reverse, of a commemorative medal. Obverse: Bust of Admiral von Tirpitz in overcoat and order (three-quarter left). Inscription: (left) 'v TIRPITZ 1915'; (right) 'GROSSADMIRAL'. Legend: 'EIN TODESPFEIL IM HERTZEN ENGLANDS IST JEDES DEUTSCHE SCHIFF . HERWEGH'. (Every German ship is an arrow of death in the heart of England). Reverse: A man on a submarine throwing a line to a boatload of men in the foreground; behind a steamer sinking by the bows, two large rats (right). Legend: 'PAROLESCHIFF VERSENKEN - MENSCHEN RETTEN.' (Orders - Sink the ship, save the men).
