The promenade deck extends for the entire length of the ship from the cargo deck to the stern. Above it the boat deck contains a further five hatches, one forward and four aft with two double derricks forward and eight single derricks aft. There are 26 lifeboats with dull pink hulls, most with white covers, either stowed on davits or on chocks; eight of these boats are collapsible. The two funnels are painted black. All of the ventilators are copper plated. The mainmast is positioned between the two stern most hatch covers. On port and starboard bows: 'Mooltan'. On stern: 'Mooltan Belfast'.
