Coriolanus (1876); Cargo vessel; Ship; Clipper

Scale: 1:96. A full hull model of the ship-rigged clipper 'Coriolanus' (1876) made entirely in wood with metal and organic material fittings and painted. The vessel is depicted fully rigged on all three masts and bowsprit. The hull is painted brick red below the waterline, with a broad pink stripe above, black above the waterline and unpainted strakes and gunwales. Fittings include a forecastle encircled by a white-painted guard rail, and accommodating a capstan and single davits for working the anchors; five yards on the foremast and mizzen and six yards on the mainmast with all the masts and yards painted brown; rectangular deckhouse abaft the foremast; four boats, all painted white and stowed on raised transverse rails, two boats upturned stowed between the fore and mainmast and the others between the main and mizzen; poop deck with a whit-painted guard rail and accommodating the mizzen and ship’s wheel. The model is mounted on four turned brass pillar supports and displayed in a glazed display case.
