Cheduba (1863); Passenger/cargo vessel

Scale: 1:32. Half hull model of the starboard side of Cheduba (1863), made entirely in wood with metal fittings. The hull is made from planks of wood with a thin veneer between them so that the hull beneath the waterline depicts a stylised planking effect. Above the waterline the hull is painted black. The hull has a keel, clipper bow and figurehead. The foredeck fittings include a truncated bowsprit, cathead, fairleads, and capstan. The main deck is placed well below the height of the fore and aft decks and its fittings include truncated foremast and main mast, open bridge, and single truncated funnel, painted black. The aft deck has two rectangular skylines. All the decks are made in wood and scored to resemble planking. There are three pairs of davits, but no boats. The model is displayed in its original glazed case, with rosewood frame and turned column supports. On plaque, attached to backboard "Model of the British India Steam Navigation Co'ys Limited SS Cheduba.
