Sectional model; Boiler Model

Scale: Unknown. Instructional model of a firetube box boiler which separates longitudinally into two sections in order to show the internal layout. The whole of the exterior of the model is painted black with brass surrounds at the openings of the firetubes and furnaces. The boiler is complete with a single telescopic(?) funnel, two hand operated safety valves and a small opening for the steam supply pipe. At the front on the boiler just above the firetubes is a small dial indicating the level of water in the boiler chamber. When the model is divided, the firetubes and surrounding area have been painted a light blue to indicate the level of submersion by water. The area above this has been painted white to indicate the steam and smoke chambers. Within the steam chamber directly above the firetubes, is a small circular metal float connected the water level dial at the front of the boiler. The body of the model is held together by several brass locating pins and two brass catches at either end.
