Yama

Scale: 1:24. A contemporary half block model of the racing cutter yacht Yama(1890). The wooden hull is constructed in bread and butter fashion using horizontal planks. It is painted white below the waterline with black topsides above separated by a horizontal section of naturally varnished wood. The flush deck has a pronounced sheer with a clipper bow fitted with a stump bowsprit, which runs aft in a long shallow angle to the keel. The angled stern post is fitted with a rudder under a long overhanging counter stern. The whole model is mounted on a varnished wooden rectangular backboard with a moulded edge on which is inscribed "Yama Designed for Allen Ames Esq By William Fife Junr. 1890". CA: BAC. Masts missing.
