Solent and Sunbeam class
Scale: 1:8. A contemporary half block model of the Solent and Sunbeam class racing yachts circa 1923.The wooden hull is made from horizontal planks in bread and butter fashion and is painted a creamy white overall, separated by a thin light blue line along the waterline. The flush deck has a slight curve to the sheer and has a thin gold line painted just below the gunwale at approximately deck level. The curved bow runs aft at a slight angle with a concave edge towards the almost horizontal keel. The angled sternpost id fitted with a half elliptical-shaped rudder underneath a long overhanging counter stern.It is mounted on a polished rectangular shaped mahogany backboard with a beaded edge on which a plaque is inscribed with "Solent and Falmouth Sunbeams one design class. Designer A. Westmacott Builders Woodnutt & Company. ST Helens I.W.".
