Queenborough (1718); Service vessel; Recreation vessel: Yacht
Georgian full hull model of the 'Queenborough' (1718), built at a scale of 1:48. This model, which is decked, is constructed in the Georgian style whereby the lower portion of the hull is assembled in ‘bread and butter’ fashion, i.e. planks of wood glued together horizontally and carved both externally and internally. The upper part of the hull and deck are added in frame and planked in the usual manner. The model is complete with its original launching flags and mounted on a veneered baseboard.
The 'Queenborough' was rebuilt from a yacht of the same name in 1718 and then used by the Commissioners of Sheerness Dockyard until 1775. After this, it was employed on local surveying duties and was finally sold in 1777.
