Recreation vessel; Yacht; Trimaran; Triune 30

Scale: 1:6. A tank testing model of the trimaran Triune 30 (1966). The model is made entirely of wood and built in bread-and-butter fashion with nearly all the surfaces finished with a matt varnish. It consists of eight horizontal layers of planks which have been glued together, gauged out internally, with a small horizontal deck left in position on the seventh layer. Externally the hull shows the various waterlines by way of the dark glue used, and it is complete with a narrow and raking bow, and a vertical transom. Running parallel to the shape of the stem post of the bow, and at roughly a centimetre in, are seven pairs of holes which were originally fitted with small brass pins and were used in the design process to show and create a flow of water past the hull. Internally the model has been ballasted at the stern with a grey plasticine or putty compound. In two places along the deck the model is marked: 'Model A' in biro.
