Half block model

Scale:1:12. A contemporary half block model of a 6 Metre racing yacht circa 1928. The hull is carved from a solid block of wood(?) and is painted a green colour below the waterline with white topsides above to the level of the gunwale. It has a very pronounced sheer with a curved bow running smoothly aft to the ballast keel. The sternpost is raked aft and is fitted with a half elliptical-shaped rudder, above which is a long, narrow and tapering counter stern. The deck is fitted with a single stump mast, rigged with a boom, and an open cockpit, all of which are finished a natural wood lightly stained and varnished. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular-shaped mahogany backboard with a moulded edge on which is inscribed " Model of 6 metre yacht built by Whites Sou'ton Yacht Building & Engineering Co Ltd 1928" and "Dimensions LOA 37' 9" LWL 22' 3" Beam 6' 8" Draught 5' 1"
