Mingulay (1936); Recreation vessel; Schooner yacht

Scale: 1:24. A half block model of the schooner yacht Mingulay (1936) made entirely of wood in a bread and butter fashion and lightly stained and varnished. The hull consists of eleven horizontal planks of mahogany which are glued and pinned together and have been lightly stained and varnished. There is a thin sheet of mahogany for the deck which is complete with two stump masts which are made of natural wood and varnished. The hull consists of a rounded bow at a shallow angle to the keel which straightens out towards the stern with a rudder fitted to the deadwood between which is an aperture for a single screw propeller. The deck has a slight curve or sheer to it along its length and finishes above a canoe-shaped stern.

The whole model is mounted on a lightly stained and varnished mahogany backboard.
