Mariquita
Scale:1:32. A contemporary half block model of the cutter-rigged 19 metre class racing yacht Mariquita(1911). The hull is carved from a solid block of wood(?) and is painted metallic copper below the waterline with white topsides above to the level of the gunwale. It has a very pronounced sheer with a curved bow running smoothly aft to the ballast keel. The sternpost is raked aft and is fitted with a half elliptical-shaped rudder, above which is a long, narrow and tapering counter stern. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular-shaped mahogany backboard with angled edge on which is inscribed "Mariquita 19 metres Designed and Built for A K Stothert Esq by William Fife & Son 1911. Scale 3/8" to the foot".
